November Issue #2
A New Form of Micro-dosing
I officially declare it the start of cozy season. To the New Yorkers fighting with your radiators, godspeed. Now, if you’ve never experienced the oven that is a prewar apartment building in NYC once the temperature drops below 50, count yourself lucky.
The weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving in NYC go by both quickly and feel like an eternity. Some people jump straight to Christmas and Hanukkah, while others decorate for Thanksgiving. With the holiday season approaching, and holiday markets and tree lightings on the horizon, the city takes on a calmer and happier tone. While I certainly won’t go near Midtown by my own free will, I will be taking advantage of the other opportunities closer to me to get outside.
Whether you’re reading, hiking, or taking a walk, we hope our newsletters this month remind you that every adventure counts.
Slow Down. Look Up.
Have a path you take everyday? Have you caught yourself going, wait when did the leaves change? Was that sign always there? We’ve all fallen victim to tuning out these small changes. This month, we’re going to change that. I challenge you to be more present in your daily routine. What can you do to make it less predictable? More exciting?
Double Take
No, it’s not the same photo. These were taken three days apart, but there’s already a big change between the two. I took a path that was so deeply imbedded in my routine and started looking at it from a different angle. I began noticing new things. How quickly the leaves turned and then fell. I even saw the exact time the streetlights went on. 4:03pm to be exact. Is there a part of your every day that you can think of as a micro adventure? The answer is yes. Going for a walk? Micro adventure! Let’s be honest with ourselves, calling your afternoon walk a micro adventure makes it so much more exciting.
